Dark electro-pop duo Male Tears has enlisted Vandal Moon to remix “Belladonna” a track originally featured on their 2021 second studio album Trauma Club.

Male Tears was initially founded in 2020 by James Edward who was later joined by Frank Shark the following year. The band released a quickly released their self-titled debut album and its follow-up record Trauma Club in 2021, both of which playfully exhibited new-wave, goth, and Italo influences through a DIY bedroom pop filter, capturing the fun and exuberance of a night at Planet X or The Batcave during the 80s heyday.

Vandal Moon, a Santa Cruz synthpop duo comprised of Blake Voss and Jeremy Einsiedler, are one of the best current acts of the genre, capturing the best of 80s post-punk and darkwave with sad melodies and lyrics gazing toward a sci-fi future with their retro wave electric dreams.

The remix of “Belladonna” is both melancholic and bewitching, slowing down the dancefloor-friendly track into a haunting romantic interlude that is likely to be one of the best darkwave reworkings of a track this year.
