Original Manchester post-punk pioneers, Membranes have premiered their video for “A Strange Perfume”—the opening track from their double album What Nature Gives…Nature Takes Away

This is the studio eighth album from the John Robb fronted band, who have been maintaining a constant momentum since reforming in 2010 at the encouragement of their once tour support band My Bloody Valentine.

“This is the pinnacle of our long and strange journey,” says John Robb “This album is steeped in the powerful forces of nature and an underlying emotional undertow that is dark and brooding bass driven postpunk with the epic swirl of the choir and a diversity of sounds that takes you on a trip. I put my life into this album musically, lyrically and emotionally”.

The new album from the Membranes features appearances from vocalist Kirk Brandon (Theatre of Hate, Spear of Destiny) among others, and was recorded at 6DB Studio in Manchester with Ding Archer, a former band member with PJ Harvey, The Pixies and producer of the last nine albums by The Fall.

What Nature Gives…Nature Takes Away is set for release on June 7th via Cherry Red Records.
