Johnny Marr hints at ‘Sheila Take a Bow’ reissue while shooting down Smiths Reunion

The Smith’s have been very active in reissuing their back catalog—fresh off of somewhat officially announcing a special edition release of their third studio LP The Queen is Dead, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr tweeted a picture of himself earlier on the evening of July 19th, standing in front the cover artwork for The Smiths single Sheila Take A Bow that features Andy Warhol’s muse Candy Darling.

“Candy says ‘back with news very soon’”

Naturally, someone on twitter replied  with: “A miraculous Smith’s reunion??”, to which Marr used the appropriately archaic retort “Get a Grip”.

Sheila take a Bow was released as a single in April 1987, reaching Number 10 in the UK Singles Chart—the highest chart placing release to occur during the band’s lifetime. The song also happens to appropriately be last song ever performed by the group in front of an audience.
