I had been hearing about the Italian trio Be Forest for quite a while before getting lost in their lulling breath of shoegaze that belongs in a Gregg Araki movie. Initially I was referred to them through my buddy Frank Deserto (The Harrow), and I instantly became smitten with Costanza Delle Rose’s vocals, which are reminiscent of original Lush and Paint Saints singer Meriel Barham, Cranes singer Allison Shaw, and Caroline Crawley from Shelleyan Orphan (and This Mortal Coil). The music straddles that sweet perfection between the sound of early 4AD style dreampop, versus Mary Chain/Slowdive era Creation Records. Be Forest released their second album, Earthbeat, earlier this year in February via We Were Never Boring, and are touring the US for the first time in a few weeks. Don’t miss your chance to see them!
