Choreographer, mime, and dance instructor Lindsay Kemp has passed away. He was 80 years old.

Born in Cheshire England, on May 3rd, 1938, Kemp made a name for himself with the dance company he formed, putting on performances of Pierrot In Turquoise, Flowers, Salome, Mr Punch’s Pantomime, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Duende, and more.

Kemp later would work with his student David Bowie by staging and performing in the Ziggy Stardust concerts at London’s Rainbow Theatre in August 1972.

He along with Jack Birkett, also appear in the Mick Rock directed promotional video for Bowie’s single “John, I’m Only Dancing”.

Another student of Kemp’s was singer Kate Bush, who would later write the song “Moving”, which was featured on  debut album The Kick Inside, as a beautiful tribute to Kemp.
