The Cure to Issue 40th and 20th Anniversary Editions of “Seventeen Seconds” and “Bloodflowers” for Record Store Day

The Cure have announced today two special anniversary editions of both Seventeen Seconds, and Bloodflowers, to celebrate both the 40th and 20th anniversaries of each respective album for this year’s Record Store Day.

According to what appears to be an official RSD UK leaflet, both of these limited anniversary editions of 2500 copies appear to be pressed in a special picture disc format, as indicated on the Bloodflowers sticker below, which states this is the first time the LP has been issued in that format.

The Cure released their second studio album Seventeen Seconds, on April 22nd, the day after Robert Smith’s birthday, The album introduced longtime Bassist Simon Gallup to the band, and contained the definitive post-punk track “A Forest” as its lead single, driven by Gallup’s haunting bassline.

Bloodflowers, The Cure’s eleventh studio album, was released on February 15th, 2000, the day after Valentine’s Day.
