LA CASA ESTÁ VACÍA

LA LUZ ESTÁ ENCENDIDA

PARECE TODO EN CALMA

Y AUNQUE TODO ESTÉ TRANQUILO

CUIDADO CON EL PERRO

Spanish electronic post-punk outfit Catastrofe Club, hailing from Granollers (Barcelona), is set to release the third video from their third LP, El Crecimiento Infinito, and we at Post-Punk.com are excited to be a part of its premiere.

The band has unleashed a fiesty hound of sound this morning with Cuidado con el Perro (Careful With The Dog), a highly catchy poema electronico with a menacing message: when everything seems the most tranquil, that is where you’re the most vulnerable to danger. Always sleep with one eye open.

The droll Spanish recitation of the poem atop the mesmerizing electronic soundscape brings to memory The Normal’s seminal “Warm Leatherette“, the provocative Suicide, the groundbreaking Kraftwerk, the experimental Anne Clark, and the visionary Laurie Anderson. Through “Cuidado con el Perro”, Catastrofe Club deftly molds an unparalleled, uncategorizable realm that blends entrancing beats, ominous electronic layers, razor-sharp minimalistic verse, and a startlingly unique visual vocabulary.

Accompanying the release is an unsettling, slightly sinister video clip directed by Mireia Schröder: a lo-fi, glitchy monochromatic effort that feels like a nightmare sequence superimposed over the singer’s face. A snarling spectre of a hellhound appears in red, teeth gnashing.

Watch the video for “Cuidado con el Perro” below:

Catastrofe Club is a project based at Roca Umbert Fábrica de les Arts in Granollers, Barcelona, formed by Josep M. Herrera (voices, guitars, and programming) and David Molina (bass, keyboards, and programming). The band has released three LPs: Galletas (Molusco Discos, 2015), Ejercicios de Vision (Hidden DIY, 2018), and El Crecimiento Infinito (Hidden DIY, 2022).

El Crecimiento Infinito is a culmination of the band’s trilogy, in which they continually question individuals while exploring themes of obsessive growth, uncertainty, and the role of ego in contemporary society. The album blends various genres, including dark electronic post-punk, art-pop, industrial, kraut-rock, post-rock, and post-‘everything’ textures.

Their live performances, supported by Pablo García on keyboards, offer a mix of musical darkness, comic sarcasm, and captivating performance.

El Crecimiento Infinito (Infinite Growth) is available for streaming and purchase now. Order here.
