Siouxsie and Iggy Pop To Perform Make-Up Sets Tonight Following Cruel World Evacuation

Siouxsie and Iggy Pop are confirmed to perform this evening at Brookside at the Rose Bowl, according to the latest update from Cruel World festival organizers. Highlighting the uniqueness of the event, they assured that Siouxsie will treat fans to an extended set, once again emphasizing that this is her exclusive North American performance for the year.

This news follows an unexpected evacuation of the festival late Saturday night due to concerns over potential lightning threats in the vicinity. The festival organizers made the announcement early this morning, seeking to reassure the attendees who were forced to cut their evening short last night.

In a social media post, Cruel World organizers said they evacuated the venue — a golf course next to the Rose Bowl stadium — “at the direction of (the) Pasadena Fire Department” on Saturday “due to unsafe weather conditions and lightning strikes in the area, verified by the National Weather Service.” The ensuing, “extremely confusing” situation prompted the police to shutter the festival, ensuring the safety of the attendees was not compromised. The Twitter handle of Cruel World then announced the postponement with a series of tweets ordering festival goers to evacuate.

However, fans have been expressing loud disappointment and frustration over social media, stating that the weather at the festival site was far from severe, and there was no rain, let alone lightning, when the decision was made to halt Iggy Pop’s performance. Particularly aggrieved are the fans of Siouxsie, the night’s headline act, who was scheduled to grace the U.S. stage for the first time in 15 years, making this festival her sole U.S. performance during her much-anticipated live comeback this summer.

There has been no mention or update regarding The Human League, another act whose performance was abruptly halted due to the evacuation, leaving fans wondering about their fate in the reshuffled schedule.

All types of passes to Saturday’s festival will again be honored at tonight’s make-up show, organizers said.

Doors open at 5 p.m PST.
