Portland Darkwave Project Dancing Plague Debuts New Single “Dreamless”

The full moon beckons us for a bloodletting ritual during this baneful Era of Pestilence…or, at least, a few thrilling moments hitting the club floors.

Portland, Oregon’s Dancing Plague crafts broodingly intense, emotional bangers, and the new single from them, “Dreamless”, is no exception. If you were to invoke the pathos of Laibach, with Front 242 and early Depeche Mode you’d welcome this chakra-blasting, spooky and melodic lovechild.

Heavy synth basses, strings, and driving electronic drums propel the song forward with urgent intensity. Lyrically, the song explores humankind’s flawed propensity for destruction, with raw emotion and infectious darkwave hooks but still manages to find a place in the infectious danceability of EBM.

The chorus bursts into the sinister phrase, “There’s blood on your hands, there’s more to come if you can’t understand” –  but hey, why not twist this ominous phrase into ecstatic jubilance as we around that Yule bonfire? Close out this tumultuous year with the union of light and shadow on this dreamless night.
