NYC Post-Punk Act Postlooperish Debuts Ominous and Atmospheric New Single “Monster”

The chains I keep were only to wrap your heart

The ropes were just to tie the bow

Am I a monster?

Enigmatic NYC post-punk act Postlooperish announces a new single called “Monster,” off of their Fevers and Fits EP.

“Monster” expertly weaves together a haunting narrative, drawing on the thematic legacy of The Cure and The Chameleons. The subtle, murky undertones of gothic influence give the track an ominous edge, while the hypnotic rhythms, intricate guitar work, and evocative synth elements add layers of complexity and depth. The alluring and poignant vocals serve to further immerse the listener in the world of the song.

At its core, the track tells a story of a seemingly gentle romance that is, in fact a twisted and dangerous form of captivity. The lyrics are layered with meaning, allowing for both a literal interpretation of a hostage situation in a horror film context and a figurative reading of a partner gaslighting someone into submission. This complex and nuanced approach showcases their mastery of lyrical, cinematic poetry.
