Nitzer Ebb Pared Down to Bon Harris and Douglas McCarthy for First North American Shows Due to Visa Delays

Nitzer Ebb’s visa woes have caused the band to be pared down to the core duo of Douglas McCarthy and Bon Harris for legendary EBM group’s first North American tour in nearly a decade that begins this coming week.

Harris and McCarthy were to be joined by original drummer David Gooday and Stark’s Simon Granger, who round out the band’s very first lineup, that never got a chance to tour together until a series of European dates late last year.

Nitzer Ebb Produkt, informed fans early today “with great sadness” that “unforeseen delays” with Gooday’s and Granger’s visas would cause the two to miss out on performing during the band’s first leg of their North American tour, which opens on Thursday in Boston.

The group writes:

“The good news is that Bon and Douglas are excited and ready for great shows despite the change of circumstances and that David and Simon will be joining them for rest of the tour starting in Barcelona May 30th.”

A second North American leg is scheduled for the fall, where Gooday and Granger are set to rejoin the lineup, once Visa’s are in hand. McCarthy took to social media following the announcement to quell rumours that the North American dates were cancelled entirely. (See Nitzer Ebb’s full tour dates below.)

Previously, we had interviewed Harris and McCarthy about Nitzer Ebb reformation during their series of dates last December, where they discussed having Gooday back in the lineup for the first time since 1987, along with Granger who had never toured with the band live.

Nitzer Ebb’s tour follows the release last year of deluxe reissues of the band’s full catalog on CD and a pair of giant vinyl box sets.
