Mareux, a.k.a. Los Angeles-based musician and producer Aryan Ashtiani, has unveiled a melancholic new single, entitled “Glass” feat. King Woman, via Warner Records/Revolution Records.
The vocals barely crack a whisper as Kris Esfandiari of King Woman confesses, “I’m not coming home again.” Their nocturnal call-and-response exhales gusts of longing and regret; capturing the nuances of an after-hours breakup, their interplay thrives as both melodically arresting and cathartically somber. The track’s icy synths pulsate like strobes above the duet, floating over a glitchy, tight tempo. King Woman’s ethereal, ghostly vocals lend beautifully to the sinister soundscape surrounding them, a banshee wandering the night in search of closure and peace that may never materialize.

Mareux initially captivated the underground with his Predestiny EP and singles such as “Spectral Tease” and “Gopnik.” before his breakout cover of The Cure’s “The Perfect Girl,” which went viral on TikTok and Spotify. King Woman (aka Kristina Esfandiari), released her ominous, dense, cinematic, and Luciferian doom rock opus Celestial Blues last year, and also recently starred in Boy Harsher’s Horror film The Runner.
