Listen to O/X’s Own Breed of Hostile EBM With the Track “Scorch”

“’Scorch’” urges society to rethink how we consume information in the current digital age,” says Christopher Oxendine under the name O/X. “It also addresses hopes of radical reform to the institutions that are so-called ‘here to protect.'” The track—doused in a sinister cynicism that’s reflected in Oxendine’s weary vocals—is carried by a perpetual bassline that offers no comfort, only hostility. As the B-side to “Falling Into,” which premiered earlier this year, “Scorch” contains the same dytopian dancefloor DNA, but plunges further towards the clashing, metallicized EBM of Portion Control or Sarin. Listen below:

Out on 7″ vinyl tomorrow, October 15th, via San Diego’s DREAM label, O/X’s release includes digital remixes by Physical Wash (who mixed and mastered the tracks) and Kontravoid. It is a glimpse into what’s next with the producer: EBM that both drives the body but confronts societal topics that are no longer confined to the pages of a science fiction novel but have become a stark reality. Catch O/X on tour:

10/22 San Diego – w/ Kontravoid & Spike Hellis at The Casbah
11/28 Los Angeles – Substance at The Belasco
