Vancouver’s Girlfriends and Boyfriends are out there again with another marvelous offering: a new video for their track Dirty Words, off their LP, Fallacy of Fairness. The band’s amiable, approachable melodies belie a more profound sentiment, making complex subject matter palatable with exquisite songwriting and shimmering guitar.
Fallacy of Fairness, produced and engineered by Felix Fung at Little Red Sounds, has already charted in Canada’s National Top 50.
On a personal note, Girlfriends and Boyfriends are proud of their indigenous ancestry. Three members of the band are of Ojibwe, Cherokee, and Latin American Amerindian descent. Primary lyricist and songwriter Grant Minor is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario.
The charming video for Dirty Words was shot last year, with the help of Vancouver’s ‘Top Secret Scooter Association.’ The retro-soaked Super-8 style video, interspersing between scenes of performance and the freedom of a scooter on the open road, was skillfully directed by Wayne Moreheart.

The first pressing of Fallacy of Fairness, via Spain’s Oráculo Records, sold out already, but the band recently announced a second pressing through FDH Records in Philadelphia (Teledrome).
