Icelandic Singer Sólveig Matthildur Reveals her video for “Dystopian Boy” feat. Drab Majesty’s Deb Demure

Kælan Mikla’s keyboardist and backing vocalist Sólveig Matthildur is currently several days into her Autumn European tour. In promotion of her trek across the continent, Sólveig has revealed the video for her collaborative standalone single “Dystopian Boy” which features the guitar talents of Drab Majesty’s Deb Demure, whom she toured with in at the beginning of 2018.

For the video’s premiere,  told Revolver that she found inspiration for the track in a chance meeting, recalling,:

“I was inspired to make the track ‘Dystopian Boy’ when I was sitting at a bar with a guy one and a half years ago. He said ‘I’m a dystopian guy, Sólveig,’ and I thought it was very beautiful as I have always seen myself as a utopian girl.”

Sólveig’s relationship with her own personal Winston Smith resulted in insights far from cynical:

“We ended up giving each other a lot. He helped me understand so many things about myself and changed my view of life and love and find the beauty of the fact that everything has a beginning and an end. I asked my friend Andrew [a.k.a. Deb Demure of Drab Majesty] to contribute to the track because I felt like he could really make magic. I was right!”

On November 9th, Sólveig released Nótt Eftir Nótt with her band Kælan Mikla, following her last solo full length Unexplained miseries & the acceptance of sorrow, which was released in December of 2016.

You can purchase the new single via the bandcamp below.

Sólveig is scheduled to perform in Madrid tonight, with 11 more  live dates in total before year’s end. Following that, Kaelan Mikla will be touring in support of Nótt Eftir Nótt in February of 2019. More info here.
