Delivering melodic and dramatic goth rock and post-punk style with a modern 21st-century edge, Greece’s Reflection Black is the manifestation of mastermind’s Elis Alex musical visions.
Their debut single, Call My Name, reaps the poisonous fruits of their first efforts. Vampiric romanticism and uncanny death-love magick themes are fused with modern, melodic post-punk, delivering authenticity beyond the lo-fi and retro-worshipping stereotypes of the genre. Infused by Alex’s black metal past (Ravencult, Nigredo) the result is dark, fast, and polished, balancing of lush synth lines and crystalline guitar hooks.
“Call My Name was an obvious choice for our debut single as it showcases our best and most characteristic qualities,” says Alex. “The thematology is established by both the track’s lyrics of Vampiric Romanticism as well as the video work of Joan Pope, accurately depicting the themes of death-love-magick, putrescence, and the occult.”
Originally conceived in late 2019, Reflection Black sharpened during the 2020-2021 pandemic. Drawing on a rich palette of influences…80s New-Wave, Goth, Glam, Punk, and Heavy Metal… an abundance of tracks formed quickly and it was time to hit the studio.
Call My Name was recorded at Red Panda Studio and was mixed and mastered at Pentagram Studio, Athens, Greece.
With a number of singles ready to be released over the following period, and a full-length album being cultivated in an already mature stage, Reflection Black is ready to share with the world their visions from the blackest depths of the other side of the mirror.
