Cruel World Festival Adds Second Date with Bauhaus, The Damned, Blondie, Devo, Echo and the Bunnymen, and More!

Cruel World Festival , an event stacked with new wave and post-punk-driven acts both classic and new, was canceled before it could launch last year due to the worldwide pandemic.

Now, not only does the festival return for its inaugural event in May of 2022, but given how quickly the tickets had sold out after going on sale, promoters have decided to announce a second date for the event.

The lineup features the same 80s-inspired bill topped by headliners Bauhaus, Blondie and Devo, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Damned, and more!

Immediately following the first, Promoter Goldenvoice has scheduled the second date on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Both will take place at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California— the site, next to the iconic stadium featured in the Documentary concert film Depeche Mode 101, was also the site of The Cure’s 2019 Pasadena Daydream festival.

Tickets, which range from $159 plus fees to $799 plus fees, go on sale first via a presale at noon Pacific on Wednesday, June 30, and then through the general on-sale at 2 p.m. Pacific that same day.

More details and presale sign-up at the Cruel World website.

Some of the classic acts on the bill include  The Psychedelic Furs, Violent Femmes, The Church, The English Beat, Public Image Ltd., Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel, Berlin, Missing Persons, 45 Grave, Christian Death, and more.

Newer acts on the lineup are Soft Kill, Drab Majesty, The KVB, Sextile, Black Marble, and more.

Though initially booked for the canceled 2020 iteration of the festival, Marc Almond, Gary Numan, and She Wants Revenge are not included on any of the two festival dates next year. In their stead, both The Damned, and Automatic have been added to the lineup.
