Chicago Goth-pop Duo Wingtips Sing of Empowerment During Crisis in “Run For Shelter”

Chicago darkwave duo Wingtips sing a song of Empowerment with “Run for Shelter”, a song featured on their upcoming new album on Artoffact Records—Cutting Room Floor.

The dreamy and emotional synth-driven track follows the release of the album’s first single “Cross the Line”, but this time lead by powerful vocals of Wingtip’s Hannah Avalon who channels the majesty of pop icons circa 1988.

On the song’s themes, Wingtips’ Vincent Segretario states: “The track ‘Run for Shelter’ is a feeling of empowerment; finding out who you are and how you respond in times of crisis.”

Listen to Run for Shelter below:

Following their debut album, Exposure Therapy, Wingtips’ sophomore album Cutting Room Floor is a love letter to the classic dark pop sound of the 80s, while highlighting songwriting that transcends nostalgia with shimmering melodies and heartfelt emotions that resonate throughout. For their sound, the band describes it as “new romantic for post-millennial end times.”

“Writing ‘Cutting Room Floor’ was a much different experience than with our previous work,” adds Segretario. “In the past we certainly drew inspiration from ’80s artists, and still do at our core, but this time we wanted to jump out of that mold. I think if anything, that’s how we’ve matured; simply doing more of what we want as artists and staying true to ourselves in the present moment.”

Wingtips’ Cutting Room Floor is out September 3rd on Artoffact Records.
