Nika Roza Danilova, aka Zola Jesus, has revealed more details on her highly anticipated upcoming album Taiga, the official follow-up to 2011’s magnificent Conatus. The new LP will be released October 7 in the U.S. and October 6 in the UK via Mute . You can listen to “Dangerous Days” above.
The album was written on Vashon Island, Washington, and co-produced in Los Angeles by Dean Hurley (David Lynch, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse). Danilova elaborated on the album’s title in a press release:
[pullquote]”It represents a feral, untapped world that could happily exist without us. There are taiga forests in Northern Wisconsin where I was raised, and also in Russia where my ancestors are from, so it also feels very native… For me, it feels like my true debut, because it is the first time I have felt so open and liberated.” [/pullquote]
