When Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy performed a duet of “That Old Black Magic” with Stan Lee

On September 14th, 2012, Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy performed a duet with Stan Lee, father of Spider-man, X-Men, The Avengers, and much much more.

The unlikely pair performed a duet of “That Old Black Magic” during a one-off concert at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia–an event dubbed “Stan Lee’s In Parties” for the kickoff of Stan’s Comikaze Expo.

The song they performed is an old standard originally released in 1942, making its debut by Glenn Miller, but also later being recorded by crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.

Watch the video below courtesy of LAWomanPhotography, where Murphy introduces Stan the Man by remarking:

“Stan informed a lot of my childhood. Thor. Odin.”

Murphy then proceeds with an extremely impressive vocal, causing a humorous contrast with his silky voice and gesticulations to which Lee’s jerky and playful hamming up of the performance, with the improvised the line at 2:10 “I wish he was a girl!”
