For those of you in the Windy City looking for great music: take note! The tenth-anniversary edition of Cold Waves Festival will feature New Canyons on Thursday, September 22, 2022. The historic Chicago venue Metro Chicago will be hosting all four days, with New Canyons kicking things off on Thursday at 7 pm CST.
The band will be debuting a new member on drums, Mikey Pinaud (aka Mikey Lovechilde), who briefly played live with the band when they first formed in 2009-2010, and who acted as the touring drummer for Zola Jesus from 2015-2019.
The live video featured here was filmed at Metro during the pandemic, and streamed on the album release date via Noon Chorus.
The band played their newly released full-length album “Heavy Water” in its entirety, plus a couple fan favorites from their 2013 album, Everyone Is Dark. The performance was filmed and edited by David Leep, with additional footage by Diana Bowden.
