Vancouver post-punk band Actors pay homage to director Oliver Stone in their video for “Only Lonely”, a track off of the group’s upcoming new album Acts of Worship.
The music video depicts a blood-soaked, Natural Born Killers-style romantic road trip, with a dash of David Lynch’s Wild at Heart, starring model Rachel Rampage and her real-life partner in crime, musician Justin Hagberg (3 Inches of Blood, Ritual Dictates). Plus, keep your eyes peeled for the cameo of the reanimated corpse from “Love U More”.
On the new single “Only Lonely,” Corbett’s crooning voice glides over a snarling, syncopated bassline, courtesy of the band’s stylish new bassist Kendall Wooding who channels classic Gang of Four, and the perfectly timed drum rhythms of Adam Fink. Not to be outdone by the rhythm section, Corbett’s guitar and Shannon Hemmett’s synths shake and shiver in icy disco new wave fusion worthy of the song’s invocation of Bryan Ferry-like vocal shudders.
In fact, Actor’s Jason Corbett credits Roxy Music as a major influence on the song: “‘Only Lonely’ pumps with a bass grind that harkens back to top tier Roxy Music. It finishes with a flourish of arpeggiated synths that’s the icing on the cake. Dance floor approved.”

Acts of Worship will be released on October 1st via Artoffact Records.
Meanwhile, look for ACTORS will be embarking on their “Take Your Love” North American Tour this autumn.
