The Smiths and Morrissey’s Publishing Rights Up For Grabs

“Morrissey and The Smiths’ 30-year publishing term with Warner-Chappell Music has come to a close, and they’re currently accepting offers from publishing companies.”  Whether or not this includes the brand management by WMG  is unclear (They have been running the official The Smiths, and Morrissey facebook pages.  In addition, WMG put out Johnny Marr’s solo album “The Messenger” last year.

“Back in 2009, Morrissey said he hadn’t been paid a royalty check from Warner in a decade.”

In addition to his largest London solo show to date at the O2 Brixton Academy, he’ll also play a homecoming show at the O2 Apollo in Manchester:

15th – Bexhill, De La Warr

17th – Wolverhampton, Civic Hall

18th – Cardiff, Great Hall

20th – O2 Academy Bournemouth

23rd – O2 Academy Brixton London

24th – Bath, Pavilion

25th – O2 Apollo Manchester

27th – O2 Academy Glasgow

28th – O2 Academy Newcastle

29th – O2 Academy Leeds

Tickets go on general sale from 9am on Friday, June 6th. Priced at £26 for London, £25 for Manchester and £24 for all other dates, they’ll be available from www.livenation.co.uk andwww.ticketmaster.co.uk.
