California post-punk trio The Slashes release Nunu’s Cocktails, an alluringly melodic new track off their upcoming album Embalmers Blush, due for release on streaming today and on vinyl this May. The track was recorded at Singing Serpent Studios, using the production talent of Ben Moore to rightfully bring out The Slashes’ unique brand of gritty post-punk.
There is a superficial likeness to The Stooges in this track, with subtle songwriting similarities to Gang of Four, Interpol, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Nunu’s Cocktails is a bit more effervescent on the surface, belying the deeper introspective lyrics within.
Singer/guitarist Esteban Rene, bassist Beto Bautista, and drummer Carlos Robles have opened for bands like Louis XIV, Moving Units, and Steven Bradley w/Richard Lloyd. Making their rounds on American radio, The Slashes earned airplay on 91X in San Diego, KXLU in Los Angeles, and Radio Free Brooklyn’s The Rodent Hour.
embalmers blush is out February 20th, 2021.
