The Sisters of Mercy finally ended their 15-year hiatus from U.S. touring with a smoldering performance last night, combining newer efforts and fan favorites at The Fillmore Silver Springs on the outskirts of Washington, D.C.

The Wednesday night spectacle encompassed a prodigious 23-song set comprising both famed classics and a surprisingly liberal dose of yet-to-be-released material. The formidable assembly for the tour included mastermind Andrew Eldritch, along with Ben Christo, Dylan Smith, “Ravey” Dave Creffield, and their iconic drum machine, Doktor Avalanche. They meticulously curated a setlist that included fan treasures such as “This Corrosion,” “Alice,” “Temple of Love,” and “Lucretia My Reflection.” Additionally, the audience was treated to “Giving Ground,” a noteworthy inclusion from Eldritch’s side project, The Sisterhood.

Staying true to their recent traditions, The Sisters graced the audience with a staggering ten unreleased tracks, silencing any doubts that Eldritch’s creative process has stilled since the release of their last album, 1990’s Vision Thing. Despite the long-standing album drought, Eldritch is still on top of his songwriting game.

The tour is set to continue its momentum, making its next pit stop at the highly anticipated Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas this coming Saturday.

The Sisters of Mercy’s thrilling US tour is just the beginning of their global musical expedition. Post their stateside gig, the band heads south of the border, where they will be lighting up the C3 Stage in Guadalajara on June 11th, 2023, followed by a performance at the famed Circo Volador in Ciudad de México on June 13th, 2023.

The band will then make their way to South America, enchanting Chilean fans at Club Chocolate in Santiago on June 16th, 2023. They then head to São Paulo, Brazil, where they’ll take the stage at Tokio Marine Hall on June 18th, 2023.

After their South American escapade, The Sisters of Mercy will return to their native soil, performing a duo of shows at the iconic Camden Roundhouse in London, UK, on September 22nd and 23rd, 2023. Subsequently, they will set off on a comprehensive European tour, igniting the stage at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on September 26th, 2023.

The tour will escort them through the vibrant streets of Utrecht, Münster, Esch-sur-Alzette, Hannover, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, and Köln. Moreover, they’ll be gracing stages in Budapest, Praha, Würzburg, Stuttgart, Lyon, Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Madrid, Lisboa, Porto, Bilbao, Genève, Trezzo sull’Adda, Cesena, Zagreb, Ljubljana, München, and Wien. The Sisters of Mercy’s return to the international stage promises to be nothing short of a post-punk pilgrimage.

After completing the European leg of the tour, the band will return to the UK for six additional shows, beginning on November 15th, 2023, in Bristol at the Marble Factory, followed by performances in Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Nottingham, Manchester, and Glasgow.
