[dropcap]I[/dropcap] wasn’t too familiar with Copenhagen’s The Foreign Resort until a friend of mine introduced me to their sound which for me, instantly hit the nail on the head!
The song above “Down the Rabbit Hole” is part of Foundwaves’ music compilation which celebrates Alice in Wonderland’s 150th anniversary. The Foreign Resort is orchestrating the story of Alice in quite a mad and delightful way.
It has a peaceful, psychedelic intro straight out of a neo hippie transcendental vision that is sharply contrasted by the harsh industrial beat that soon starts to inevitably wreck up all naive illusions. From now on it’s abundantly clear: Alice is on a trip – and rapidly descending into madness.
Down it goes through soundscapes with slightly shimmering shoegaze guitars accompanied by occasional edgy synth cascades and airy reverb infused vocals of singer Mikkel Borbjerg Jakobsen.
Intrigued by this song, I am excited to listen to their new album that recently had been crowd-funded with great success.
