[dropcap]UK[/dropcap] Punk Rock turns 40, and so does The Damned. To celebrate, Dave Vanian (short for Transyl…), and Co have announced their 40th Anniversary gig at The Royal Albert Hall on May 20th 2016.
The Damned formed in London during 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. They released the first UK Punk single, “New Rose“, album, “Damned Damned Damned”, and were also the first UK Punk band to tour the US.
The current lineup features:
Dave Vanian (vocals), Captain Sensible (bass), Monty Oxymoron (keyboards), Pinch (drums), and Stu West (bass).
