After the band’s official Instagram has popped up, speculation has emerged that a Talking Heads reunion could be in the works—which if it were to happen would mark the first time the band worked together since their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
Tuesday, saw the appearance of @TalkingHeadsOfficial on Instagram, and despite there being no posts on the page as of yet, the account is following Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison, and both David Byrne’s IG accounts @Davidbymeofficial, and his American Utopia Account—for which Byrne is currently in the middle of a performance run on Broadway.
The account also follows guitarist Adrian Belew—an early member of the band, who was enlisted in 1980 to bring to life the complex arrangements of the band’s fourth studio album Remain in Light for the album’s tour.
Given that there is already an official Facebook account bearing the same branding, the new Instagram presence for the band could be something spearheaded by Rhino in order to mark the 40th Anniversary of Remain in Light—an album that features the single “Once in a Lifetime”, one of the band’s most popular songs.
However, Jerry Harrison and guitarist Belew have already announced festival and tour dates with Turkuaz in 2020 celebrating the album’s 40th-anniversary, so this makes a full reunion seem less likely, especially given the historically bitter and acrimonious relationship Byrne and his former bandmates have been noted to have with each other.
