Swedish post-punk band Alpha Pet have unleashed their blistering old-school sounding second single, a dark, suggestive hunt through the jungle of life, called “Too Fast.”
The song revolves around mysterious sensuality produced by a combination of bass, drums, and leather whips. Musically, the song brings to mind the soundtrack to films like Apocalypse Now, as well as bands like Killing Joke, Viagra Boys, and Reeperbahn…with some PIL for good measure.
Alpha Pet claims that they will “bend your ears like Uri Geller bends his spoons.” Combining the avant-garde elements of Talking Heads, the rawness of The Fall with the catchiness of The Clash, the Stockholm four-piece play their post-punk with telekinetic energy.
”Too Fast is a primal force that arches out of the pulsating playing of the rhythm section and shows the power of the dark.”
Alpha Pet is comprised of Joakim Almén (bass and vocals), Patrik Eklund (drums), TCM, Markus Ljungholm (whip) and Rocky Åberg (guitar and vocals). “When Jocke and Putte started hammering out the beat, it was impossible not to get caught up in the feeling of being the superior in an action movie,” laughs Rocky Åberg. “The theme of the text came naturally – desert from society and put your legs on your back. No one is faster than he who is free.”
The track was recorded, mixed and mastered in Kemisk Fetma Studio by Jakob Jakobsson Blom.
The song follows up the debut single Concept of Power which was released in May and will be followed up with the forthcoming TV Personality later this fall.
