Spanish post-punk artist Luz Futuro, has unveiled an electrifying new music video for his latest single, “Mirando Por El Visor.” Directed by Luz Futuro himself, in collaboration with Nacho Araújo, the video offers a retro visual feast that perfectly complements the song’s lively and buoyant energy.

“Mirando Por El Visor” bursts with vigor and enthusiasm, staying true to its punk origins while skillfully blending diverse influences reminiscent of Alaska y Los Pegamoides and Paralisis Permanente. Delivered in passionate Spanish, the lyrics probe the depths of the human condition, exploring our inner shadows and the quest for redemption. This captivating track highlights the multi-talented Gonzalo Hoppi on instruments, allowing Luz Futuro to exhibit their distinct amalgamation of ’80s New Wave, punk, and New Romanticism. Luz Futuro’s thematic explorations may appear straightforward, but they resonate universally—dreams that remain elusive, intensifying a wistful yearning for that which lies just beyond our grasp. This concept aligns with his sound.

The music video embraces a nostalgic, old-school vibe with its lo-fi VHS aesthetic, showcasing grainy special effects and a vivid color palette of magenta and technicolor artifacts. Skillfully edited by Nacho A. and Daniel B., “Mirando Por El Visor” is a testament to Luz Futuro’s creative vision and the band’s ability to craft an immersive and emotive experience for his audience. Luz Futuro performs against a green screen-inspired backdrop, interwoven with footage of urban landscapes and more. The visual narrative is enriched by a cryptic figure donning an old man mask, navigating everyday life in the city.

As the video progresses, viewers follow this enigmatic character through a series of ordinary tasks such as gazing into a mirror, meandering about, perusing a newspaper, and making a phone call. In a nuanced and touching moment, the character’s mask is removed off-screen, symbolizing a fresh sense of identity and the release of lingering burdens.

Luz Futuro has been steadily making a name for himself in the Spanish post-punk scene with a series of successful collaborations, including working with VVV on the album “Cólera – Mi Sangre” and contributing to Twin Tribes’ remix album. His previous single, “Condena,” was released in October 2022.

“Mirando Por El Visor” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
