Something Wicked this Way Comes with Tryst’s Indigo Sky

Tryst, an alternative/post-punk/electronic visual artist, launched her second album Indigo Sky, on the heels of last year’s Vulgar VirtueThe album comes with a 12-page lyric and art booklet with the CD that Tryst personally designed. Taking influence from Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Massive Attack, Portishead, Kate Bush, David Bowie, David Lynch, Sisters of Mercy, and Joy Division, Tryst brings blood and lipstick to a dark and gritty noir world using macabre undertones and glamour.

Her deep-throated, hushed delivery gives a sense of intimacy and immediacy in her vocal performance, bringing a gravitas to her dark lyrics. This is the voice of a woman who means business and has seen it all. “Indigo Sky” and “Wicked Dream” are solid “songs of experience” in this unsettling BDSM-soaked oeuvre, placing the listener firmly in a den of iniquity. Have mercy.

The native New Yorker also makes use of theatric burlesque elements in her stage performances, bringing a sense of community together through art, music, and dance. Her high energy, stunning visuals, theatrics, and exciting new sound is a doorway to a world of love, lust, pain, and desires.

The single “SEX GOD (DIZNEY MEAT)” from Indigo Sky is accompanied by this delightfully mysterious (and occasionally blasphemous) clip, co-directed with Julie Valgoi. Watch the dark circus below:
