Recon’s “Broken Stairs” is an All-Star Industrial Collaboration Featuring Læther Strip’s Claus Larsen

Time to get out of your comfort zone and stumble through the rhythmic noise/industrial music landscape of RECON.

The 23-track double album, Broken Stairs, was released via Bandcamp in July 2020 on Crunch Pod. In addition to streaming, the album will be released on 180g Color Splatter Vinyl and Double 8 panel CD, featuring artwork by Stefan Alt.

The title track of the album features legendary electro-industrial EBM project Læther Strip. Claus Larsen delivers a blistering vocal performance that blends perfectly with the track’s ominous atmosphere, rhythmic noise assault, and heavy industrial percussion. “Broken Stairs can’t hold my weight,” he intones over and over, brimming with seething rage.

“When the album was released all digital sales were donated to Claus Larsen from Leaether Strip to help with his husband Kurt’s care,” says RECON. “Their love is amazing and they have been through a lot.” Sadly, Læther Strip’s Kurt Grünewald Hansen passed away on Sept 28th, 2020, after losing his battle with cancer. Kurt and Claus were together for over 26 years and married for over 12 years.

The epic odyssey highlights RECON’s collaborations and remixes by various artists within the industrial music landscape.  Though the main sound focuses on the industrial, RECON loves to go out of comfort zones and cross like-minded genres. The idea here is to explore boundaries and fuse collaborative energies to forge a unique, new sound. “This album really exemplifies that particular drive,” says RECON.

RECON’s biggest focus when composing music is to create songs that he personally wants to enjoy that do not currently exist in the musical archives. This album is a true testament to that ethos.  Broken Stairs is filled top to bottom with powerful tracks incorporating EBM fusion, Dark Ambient IDM Soundscapes, Darksynth, and Industrial Power Noise.
