Spellbinding synth-duo Marva Von Theo have unveiled “Forever”, the second single from their upcoming sophomore studio album Afterglow, set for release in Autumn of 2020.
The song is a pulsing new-wave/synth-punk melody with infectious sci-fi beats overlaid with melancholic vocals, which fully captures the space-age spectral intent in its composition.
Lyrically the song is an ode to time and the end of it, as the final act unfolds towards redemption and eternity, a theme mostly inspired by Medieval writings and the raw, shadowy, folk tradition. While pursuing a better understanding of the meaning of life, the lyrics also consider the sensory experience, probing the source of every pain and strife experienced in life.
Like the proverbial Major Tom of David Bowie fame, or David Bowman of 2001: A Space Odyssey, the song represents a cosmic transcendence “where the exile of being ends with the return of the song’s heroine to eternity, the silence of her loud ambitions, and the finding of absolute peace”.

The title of Marva Von Theo’s upcoming album Afterglow holds several meanings and extensions relating to the work and personal lives of the duo, and was used in its more melancholic hues to express the bittersweet feelings invoked when something significantly beautiful ends, such aa relationship, an experience, a certain life stage, etc.
Marva Von Theo patiently took their time with this album in order to dive deeper into each and every sound they devised, to further expand upon their sonic palette, to redefine their vision, and to find the balance between electro-pop and experimental synth music, between poetry and songwriting, and between dreamscapes and reality.
Previously, in December of 2019, Marva Von Theo also shared their first single from the forthcoming new album with the beautiful sci-fi ballad called “Embrace this Madness” (Watch here).
