“Nothing is sacred, everything bleeds.”
Emanating from the depths of Philadelphia’s thriving DIY music scene, the self-proclaimed “goblin punk” trio FRIEND unveils their third album, boldly titled DOG EAT DOG. Drawing inspiration from the gritty post-punk and post-rock landscape of the late 90s through the early 2010s, FRIEND weaves together their musical influences, handpicked from the favorites of the band itself, which include The Drums, Bloc Party, Mike Krol, Joy Division, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes, and IDLES.
In a nod to its inspirations from the realms of The Garden, The Prodigy, Death Grips, and Nine Inch Nails, their latest single NOTHING IS SACRED, EVERYTHING BLEEDS stands as a stark reminder that regardless of what you hold dear, be it a deity or an ideology, it all culminates in the same inevitable outcome – a world where everything ultimately converges, blends…and bleeds.
NOTHING IS SACRED, EVERYTHING BLEEDS pulses with raw energy and sheer exhilaration, driven by thunderous beats and distorted synths that explode into thrills and frenzy. The unrelenting vocals and relentless repetition only amplify the sense of urgency, making this track an absolute must for those high-octane dance floors where the atmosphere crackles with electrifying intensity.

In DOG EAT DOG, the band seamlessly melds their signature blown-out and distorted sound with a poignant, reverberating sense of nostalgia. The result is a captivating fusion, where the band’s characteristic energy collides with a hauntingly melancholic yearning for days past. This album transports us smack i the crossroads of punk’s raw vitality and the screeching echoes of a bygone era.
DOG EAT DOG is out on the 2nd of February via Born Losers Records. (Dare we say – DOG EAT DOG sounds best blasting through a subwoofer?) This is FRIEND’s first release with the Philly label. You can pre-order the vinyl here.
