New Yorkers, get ready for one heckuva show.
Avant-noise duo Winkie will host their official record release show for Here Comes Success at Coney Island U.S.A.’s historic Sideshows By The Seashore.
The enigmatic duo, consisting of vocalist/keyboardist Gina and bassist Peter, worked with Machines With Magnets on this album. The band have been compared to Cranes, Killing Joke, Suicide, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, developing a unique live presence marrying visuals and performance art to their overall oeuvre, in the vein of The Residents.
Winkie have already made a…splash…at SXSW 2022 and Dark Spring Boston, and at this show they’ll be joined by a diverse line-up: Buck Gooter, Muderpact, and Ships In The Night. Winkie’s uniquely New York-flavoured David Lynch-meets-Cindy Sherman mystery video, “This Place Is Death,” came out last September.

The event promises a “night of haunting electronic sounds.” More information is available here.
Winkie will soon make appearances at Bar Freda (with Kristeen Young), Wonderville (with Myuné), and Philadelphia performance (TBA).
