Do you feel like you need to run?
Did it feel like a loaded gun?
Finally a bit of sun
But I’m still gray
New-Wave duo Adored, comprised of Brothers Lennon and Christian Nichols, offer yet another captivating new single with their introspective new release: “Tidal Wave.” The track comes off the forthcoming five-song EP, Songs For Film, due out on the 31st of August via Chaotic No Good.
The pair cites 80s film soundtracks as their primary influence for this release; Tidal Wave certainly fits the bill, easily sounding like a moment from a John Hughes film. With this song and the minimalist self-directed video, the Nichols brothers weave a wistful picture of themselves watching movies, exchanging demos, and hashing out dreamy, New Wave-informed compositions.
‘Tidal Wave” boasts the pop sensibility of The Cure, the moody atmospheres of The Chameleons, and the more contemporary approaches of bands like Body of Light and Drab Majesty. The song is wrapped in the warmth of 80s nostalgia yet firmly rooted in the present day.

Adored‘s dreamy eponymous single, released in October of 2020, laid the groundwork for their direction and aesthetic tastes. Their determined, DIY approach proved ambitious and charming, and continued with the next two singles, “Midnight Sanctuary” and “Space Club.”
