Amidst the sun-drenched expanse of Los Angeles, the enigmatic band FEARING emerges, weaving a dance of dark post-punk mystique. The brainchild of James Rogers and Brian Vega, their musical journey began amidst the raw energy of hardcore shows in Reno, Nevada.

Fast forward a decade, following in the wake of various tours and musical escapades, the duo found themselves reunited in Oakland, California. Their mutual love for the haunting allure of darkwave and the hypnotic beats of electronic music gave birth to FEARING. Their sophomore full-length album, aptly named Destroyer, is slated to drop on September 29th, perfectly aligning with the eerie Season of the Witch.

The album’s namesake track, “Destroyer,” masterfully balances between the ethereal and the tangible, the melancholic whispers and the vibrant beats, offering a fresh twist to Fearing’s signature sound.

Imagine an endless, dark ocean, where distant lighthouse beams are the sole respite from the engulfing void. It’s here that Destroyer finds its essence. With Joey Camello’s evocative guitar riffs, the band introduces a raw, electric edge to their refined trio ensemble, making their sonic heart of darkness pulse more fervently than ever.

Complementing this sonic journey is a mesmerizing VHS glitch video, a creation of crippledxwings. It pulls viewers into a dreamy realm of distorted urban landscapes and blossoms breaking through electronic chaos, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.

With Destroyer, FEARING paints a haunting soundscape of deep-sea torment, isolation, and longing. The album resonates with a fresh vigor and a stripped-back sound. It’s a masterful blend of post-punk and darkwave, charged with an intensity that distinguishes it from their previous endeavors.

Originally a quartet with acoustic drums, FEARING has evolved into a captivating synth/guitar trio. Their debut EP, A Life Of None, dropped in 2017, followed by the critically acclaimed Black Sand EP. Their relentless dedication, combined with electrifying live performances, has kept them in the spotlight. They’ve graced stages alongside the likes of Gatecreeper, Soft Kill, Choir Boy, Narrow Head, and Death Bells, and have been a staple at festivals like Substance, Home Sick, and Out From The Shadows.

Their latest masterwork, Destroyer, showcases the band’s DIY recording flair, enhanced by the mixing skills of Chris King (of Cold Showers) and the finishing touches of the renowned Dan Lowndes of Resonance Sound.

Fearing’s Destroyer drops on September 29, 2023, via Profound Lore.
