London-based Post-Punk Artist Vincent Christ Returns in the Video for “Heart of the Spider”

Vincent Christ has returned with a passionate standalone single entitled Heart of the Spider. The London-based artist blends elements of new wave, art-rock and post-punk, creating music in the same sphere as The Gun Club, The Wake, Sad Lovers & Giants, The Damned, Fad Gadget, and The Fall. Rife with sinister guitar licks and urgent drumming, this track is a vicious commentary on class disparity and the fallout of the average citizen struggling to live.

“It’s about life in the city, the mental state required to thrive in that environment,” he says. “In terms of sound, it might be my most surprising single yet.”

Heart Of The Spider follows Vincent Christ’s prolific last six months of releases, which includes the ‘Truant‘ LP and ‘Kil St. Clare‘ EP.

The DIY video, a night vision glimpse of aimless, paranoid wandering…and perhaps living in a car…was filmed by Patrick Lyons. It is as unsettling and worrisome as the lyrics imply: two generations lost in the corporate jungle, hoping for a break. It’s a nod to the art that emerged under Thatcher’s Britain…and clearly, society needs to pick up the slack.
