Listen to Strawberry Switchblade’s “Spanish Song”—A previously unreleased 1982 track from when the band were a 4-piece

[dropcap]Back[/dropcap] in 1992, before Glasgow’s Polka Dot Pop Twins—Strawberry Switchblade were a duo—Rose McDowall and Jill Bryson’s proto-gothic lolita band had been a short-lived 4-piece. At first listen, the music sounds like a demo for Rose McDowall’s later material such as Spell with Boyd Rice, and a solo project called Sorrow, but perhaps with an more 60’s pop feel.

Even in this digital age, there is not much information on this early 3-song demo tape originally recorded at Glasgow’s Hellfire Club. except for some grainy photos—but the music will finally to be reissued in early 2017 on Glaswegian label Night School Recordsand will be the first official Strawberry Switchblade release in 30 years—because technically you can’t include the The lost Strawberry Switchblade track Cut With The Cake Knife, which was released last year via Sacred Bones.

The songs are remastered and restored from the original cassette and you can pre-order the limited 7″ (300 clear / 700 black) here or via Rough Trade/Monorail.
