The The’s Matt Johnson made his onstage reunion last night with Johnny Marr t (11/11) at London’s Roundhouse to perform a cover of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s 1966 single “Summer in the City.”
Marr had previously recorded and toured with The The from 1988 to 1994, and this was the first time the former Smiths guitarist had appeared on stage with his longtime friend Matt Johnson in 25 years.
The The recently made their return to performing as a live band after a 16 year hiatus, making a comeback with the single “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming” featuring Johnny Marr for last year’s record store day.
Marr is currently on tour in Europe in promotion of his third solo LP Call The Comet.
