Jody and the Jerms Unveil the Shimmering Indie Pop of Their New Album “Wonder”

Back in time, our world laid bare

Canteen dreams going nowhere

Future undecided, fantasies colliding

Back in time, the world was ours

In the delicate, shimmering realm of indie pop, a motley assemblage known as Jody and the Jerms has emerged, extending the silken wings of their opus, ‘Wonder,’ courtesy of JATJ Records. The core of this aural collective is woven around the ethereal Jody Jeger (vox) and Niall Jeger (strings and vox), while the chimerical ensemble enlists talents from The Anydays.

A tantalizing time warp, their sound transports one to the hallowed, sepia-tinged era of 90s indie, as if suspended in a dreamscape of serendipitous melodies, etched in our imaginations in for eternity. Laden with a sumptuous banquet of crystalline indie pop, their earnest and heartfelt tonality is adorned with the evanescent jangle of endearing pop hymns that resonate in the soul, sculpted with the incandescent candour of a bygone innocence. Jody’s mellifluous timbre casts a celestial glow that lingers at the nexus of The Sundays, Belle and Sebastian, Throwing Muses, and the effervescent efflorescence of The Darling Buds.

This album is brimming with unapologetically romantic ballads that delve deep into the ecstasy of love’s embrace (see “Counting Dreams” and “Safe“), the anguish of foresight (as in “Intuition“), the longing for hope (as evidenced in “Just For Show“), and the searing pain of regret after a devastating breakup (as in “Don’t Look Back“).

Insatiable” is a feverish anthem of unquenchable desire, while “Started Something” fearlessly confronts the terror of vulnerability head-on.

Hailing from Oxford, Jody and the Jerms have been crafting their signature blend of buoyant and melodic indie/alt rock since 2019. Quickly making their mark on the UK music scene, the band has been creating a buzz on the airwaves.

Their latest offering, “Wonder,” is their third studio album and was helmed by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his renowned OX4 Sound Studio.

“We recorded the guitars and drums with Mark Gardener almost as an afterthought following a long day of recording tracks for the ‘Wonder’ album,” says Niall Jeger about the album’s creation. “We were about to call it a day, but we just kinda let rip with the guitar riff and a real nice and simple rock drum beat. But it wasn’t until Jody set the song’s direction with the lyrics that we know we had a really good single.”

Building on the momentum of their previous albums, “Flicker” (2022) and their debut “Deeper” (2020), “Wonder” delivers a fresh and dynamic sound that is sure to leave fans craving more.

Wonder is currently available for streaming and purchase. It will also be released on limited edition CD and a lovely pink vinyl. Jody and the Jerms are touring the UK in support of this release: tickets can be ordered here.
