In a dazzling tribute to their musical forbears, alt-rock luminaries Garbage breathe new life into Siouxsie and the Banshees‘ revered single “Cities in Dust” on their Witness To Your Love EP, a vinyl treasure for Record Store Day enthusiasts. The band’s reinterpretation of the revered 1985 classic is now immortalized in a hypnotic animated music video. Shirley Manson, who recently divulged her unwavering admiration for Siouxsie and the Banshees on the Curious Creatures podcast in her discussion with Lol Tolhurst and Budgie (of the Banshees), tenderly whispers in the cover’s conclusion: “I love you, Siouxsie.”
Initially surfacing on a 2008 Urban Outfitters compilation during Garbage’s hiatus, “Witness to Your Love” later re-emerged as a single in 2022, heralding the band’s Anthology. The song’s freshly minted EP, available in digital formats today, unveils two unearthed gems recorded during sessions from the band’s 2021 seventh studio album, No Gods No Masters: “Blue Betty” and “Adam and Eve.”
