Calling him, Feeling the void, for the sake of your mind

Poison Point, the visionary solo endeavor of Timothée Gainet, unveils the third track from his forthcoming new album Wandering Echoes, “Blue Idol.” This new single marks a striking evolution in Poison Point’s sound, transmuting the raw energy of EBM (Electronic Body Music) into lush, introspective soundscapes fused with the effervescence of the 1980s-era New Wave. With “Blue Idol,” Gainet infuses bright, chiming synths that pulse and vibrate with a life of their own, adorned with a captivating delay effect that invites listeners into a sonic realm that is both familiar and utterly unique.

In an ambitious departure from the conventional darkwave sound, “Blue Idol” leans into a more ethereal, reminiscent of Depeche Mode’s synth-pop sensibilities found on their iconic album, “Some Great Reward.” However, Gainey has evolved the song into something new, weaving a gauzy layer into the mix that transports the listener to a parallel dimension. This dimension is one of abstract thought and dream-like states, where the music feels half-remembered, floating through the consciousness like a profound dream that leaves a lasting impression upon waking.

The simplistic lyric video for “Blue Idol” beautifully complements the song’s thematic essence. With birds fluttering about, it captures the introspective and evocative nature of the lyrics, which explore themes of isolation, introspection, and the relentless quest for truth amidst the chaos of existence. The video serves as a visual representation of the song’s ability to transport listeners to a realm where reality and dreams converge, highlighting the song’s lyrical journey through landscapes both desolate and introspective.

Poison Point’s album “Wandering Echoes” is a significant step forward, meticulously crafted by Gainet and expertly mastered by Maurizio Baggio. It takes listeners on a journey through a crystal-clear realm of imagined memories with hypnotic rhythms of synth arpeggios. The tracks pulse with electricity, romance, and angularity.

Wandering Echoes will be available on the 29th of March via Avant! Records on ivory white vinyl in a limited edition run of 300, as well as CD and streaming.
