French Darkwave Act Poison Point Returns with Haunting Video for “Mysteries In Fire”

Poison Point, the enthralling solo project of Paris-based producer and live artist Timothée Gainet, emerged onto the scene in 2016. Gainet’s magnetic presence graced stages alongside illustrious acts like Drab Majesty, Xeno & Oaklander, Adult, Rendez-Vous, and Silent Servant. Simultaneously, he weaved his remixing magic for Qual, Sydney Valette, and Blind Delon, all while keeping the industrial techno flames burning with his outfit IV Horsemen.

Despite a hectic schedule, Poison Point’s ascent was undeniable following his debut album on Third Coming. His music found a home on renowned labels like Aufnahme + Wiedergabe and Young And Cold. Across the years, his evolution was palpable, transitioning from his early motorik post-punk vibes to a dancefloor-centric fusion of dark electronics, all imbued with a spellbinding touch of military pop allure.

Now poised to drop his forthcoming album, Wandering Echoes, Gainet offers up nine new tracks that are an aural feast for the romantic and the nostalgic alike. If your musical tastes tread the path between Black Celebration-era Depeche Mode, Phase Fatale, and Lust For Youth, Wandering Echoes promises to be the record you’ve been longing for.

In his latest single, Mysteries In Fire, Gainet thrusts us straight into the heart of a city throbbing with desire. The verses pulse with the electric charge of a blossoming romance, weaving metaphors of fire and concealed realities. As the chorus unfolds, a compelling tension emerges—a delicate innocence juxtaposed with a lurking, predatory instinct—a premonition of imminent peril. An urgent sensuality permeates the portrait throughout, painting a vivid, foreboding, nocturnal landscape where unchecked desires may steer one toward a treacherous rendezvous.

We are treated to a performance in a lush Rococo setting in the beautiful video clip filmed by Colin Guerre, Clotilde Duong Van Huyen. We see Gainet channeling something special here amidst the strobes.

With 2022’s Poisoned Gloves as a prelude, Poison Point’s latest full-length release marks a substantial leap forward in their evolution. Crafted with precision by Gainet himself and expertly mastered by Mr. Baggio, Wandering Echoes immerses listeners in a crystalline realm of imagined memories, guided by the hypnotic rhythms of synth arpeggios. This album maintains its momentum with a collection of tracks that pulsate with electricity, romance, and a distinct angularity. Prepare to break a sweat; and brush up on your French.

Wandering Echoes will be available on the 29th March via Avant! Records on ivory white vinyl in a limited edition run of 300, as well as CD and streaming.
