The legendary electronic /industrial project from Belgium, The Klinik, formed by analogue synth and electronics geniuses, Marc Verhaeghen and Dirk Ivens—performed their final show Saturday night.
Founded in 1982, The Klinik took off in the mid eighties and after the release of their album ‘Sabotage’. Their cold and harsh electronic sound combined with strong video imagery highlighted their live shows, where they performed with their heads wrapped in gauze, wearing long black leather coats.
The show was sold out couple of minutes after the doors opened, and the opening act, Sweden’s No Sleep by the Machine, were great and with the audience really appreciating and embracing their set which bolstered the kinetic anticipation permeating the atmosphere.
The sound coming from the PA and speakers could not be more perfect, and The Klinik opened with ‘Cold as Ice’ around 9:15, continuing to a play a fantastic best of set throughout—highlighting their entire catalog, with tracks such as ‘Black Leather’, ‘Sick in your Mind’, ‘Obsession’, ‘Moving Hands’, and the last song preceding two encores being a physically intense performance of “Go Back”
Following the show was an after show party at Urban Spree where Dirk and Peter played alongside the resident DEATH # DISCO djs, which was packed with over 300 people from Midnight till 5am.
This one is going to take a few days to recover from…
