Echo & The Bunnymen Announce The John Peel Sessions 1979-1983 Collection on Vinyl

“Without the John Peel sessions, Echo And The Bunnymen would not exist!”

Liverpool’s own post-punk heroes Echo & The Bunnymen are set to release a collection of all their Radio 1 John Peel Radio sessions as The John Peel Sessions 1979-1983, this September via Warner.

Formed in Liverpool in 1978, this collection of 21 tracks span the band’s formative years up leading up to their critically acclaimed 1984  LP Ocean Rain.

According to guitarist Will Sergeant, these recordings could quite simply be some of the most significant in the band’s career:

“Without John Peel sessions, Echo And The Bunnymen in my opinion, would not exist! It’s that simple. The band got so much support from him and John Walters (Peel’s producer). Recording a Peel session was essential to the development of our songwriting skills while at the same time giving us amazing exposure and self-belief.”

A limited numbered run of 500 red double LPs (a tribute to the band’s love of Liverpool Football Club) will be available through Rhino, alongside a standard edition on black vinyl.
