Echo & The Bunnymen Announce “40 Years of Magical Songs” Tour

Liverpool’s legendary post-punk band Echo & The Bunnymen have announced a special UK tour scheduled for May of 2021 that celebrates “40 years of Magical Songs”

The band formed in Liverpool in 1978, with the original line-up of vocalist Ian McCulloch, guitarist Will Sergeant and bassist Les Pattinson. By 1980, drummer Pete de Freitas joined was enlisted, and the band released their debut album, Crocodiles later that year, which featured the single “Rescue”

By 1981, EATB released their second album Heaven Up Here, known for the tracks “Show of Strength”, “A Promise”, and fan-favourite “All My Colours”.

By 1983, the band rose to number 2 on the album charts with Porcupine, led by one of the best songs released that year according to NME: “The Cutter”.

It was 1984 however, that cemented the band’s legacy, with their fourth studio album Ocean Rain, which featured The Killing Moon, which, to modestly paraphrase frontman Ian McCulloch, is one of the greatest songs ever written.

After a 3 year break, that in the interim saw the band release the greatest hits collection Songs to Learn and Sing, which featured the new track “Bring On The Dancing Horses”, Echo and The Bunnymen would return with a self-titled LP in 1987, that featured the hit single “Lips Like Sugar”. This would be the band’s last hit in their original incarnation, before reforming in 1996.

Tickets for Echo and The Bunnymen’s UK tour go on sale on Friday at 9:30 am. However, pre-sales start on Wednesday at 9:30 am through this special pre-sale link: Here

No word yet on a European, or US leg of the tour.
