Today, dreamy synth-pop ssongstress Frankie Rose shares a new offering to the lovelorn: “Come Back,” the third single from her new LP, Love As Projection.
Long established in New York and Los Angeles independent music circles playing with the likes of Crystal Stilts and The Vivian Girls, Frankie Rose returns with a fresh form, aesthetic, and purpose. Her gorgeous new synthpop single, “Come Back,” is the third from her new LP, Love As Projection. This is a banger full of unexpected tempo and key changes: it’s pulsing synth-pop with a swirling, effervescent energy.

Continuing the theme of transcendent melody with her warm, embracing conversational vocals, Frankie Rose’s sound makes easy comparisons to Strawberry Switchblade, Missing Persons, Altered Images, and Xmal Deutschland, with a splash of Enyacore for good measure. Frankie Rose’s last album was 2017’s Cage Tropical. Prior to that she released 2013’s Herein Wild and 2012’s Interstellar.
Overall, Love As Projection – Frankie Rose’s first solo LP in six years – boasts a widescreen scope: after gestating for half a decade, it has culminated in a collection of the most personal and accessible art-pop that Frankie Rose has ever written. It was recorded with producer Brandt Gassman and mixed with long-term collaborator Jorge Elbrecht.
“This album is about having to focus our collective energies on the small things that we can control, in order to find joy,” says Rose. “A distraction from the larger systemic problems that feel so overwhelming and are so very out of our collective hands…for now.”
Love as Projection is out on March 10, 2023, via Slumberland. You can pre-order here.
New Yorkers, you can catch Frankie Rose at Union Pool in Brooklyn on 3/11 for her record release show. She will be appearing with Donzii.
