Dream Pop Duo Fawns of Love Debut Video for “In Between Maddening”

Bakersfield post-punk husband-and-wife duo Fawns of Love, aka singer Jenny Andreotti and multi-instrumentalist Joseph Andreotti, announce a highly creative and hypnotic new video for “In Between Maddening”.

Centering on the themes of innocence, frailty, and vulnerability, the track comes off their new album, Innocence of Protection (Kingfisher Bluez, Sunday Records). While writing the songs both Jenny and Joseph were inspired by Cocteau Twins, The Pastels, Yukihiro Takahashi, Dali’s Car, and New Order.

“I think when we are children we use make-believe as a creative outlet, but as we get older we use daydreaming as a tool of protection when we feel overwhelmed and as a way to have control over something,” Jenny explains. “For this album, I liked the idea of recreating what it feels like to  float in and out of daydreaming and reality.”

With cut-paper animations, stop motion with objects, leader film illustrations, and interspersed stock footage, this video is timeless, surrealistic, and wonderfully inventive. This is the perfect visual companion to a timeless song that is both a mesmerizing whirl and a danceable dream, encapsulating the best ethereal pop sounds of the 80s.

Previously, Fawns of Love released “Someday” (Robin Guthrie Version) b/w Never Sing For Joy 7” (Kingfisher Bluez) and a second KXLU Part Time Punks radio session titled, Part Time  Punks Session: Permanent Revisited 12” EP (Obeah Records) in 2020.  “Someday” (Robin  Guthrie Version) was recorded and mixed by Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins, who created an ethereal and earnest mood to his version. The duo have also performed with Choir Boy, Xeno & Oaklander, and Cold Showers.

The artwork and layout the forthcoming new album Innocence of Protection was created by Paul West at Form (Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode) and the photography by Spiros Politis (Cocteau Twins, Nick Cave). The album will be released on vinyl by Kingfisher Bluez and on compact disc by Sunday Records. The compact disc includes bonus tracks that includes a remix by Kid Ginseng (Tom Tom Club, Kraftjerkz).

The album, available on November 26th,  is being pressed on vinyl in beautiful seafoam green.
