Darkwave artist Panic Priest announces the release of “Angelsteal”, a single off his forthcoming new album PSYCHOGORIA, due out February 2022 via Negative Gain. Angelsteal is an upbeat, high energy crooning number twinged with melancholy, exploring themes of living with past trauma, healing, and taking control of one’s own destiny.
Armondoʼs deep, crooning vocals emotively weave together a bevy of dreamy guitars and synths, bringing to mind Peter Murphy’s solo efforts, Blancmange, ABC (by way of BDSM), and Tears For Fears. There is a cinematic romanticism to Angelsteal in its attempts of navigating the path of self-healing. The song’s sweeping crescendoes and strong vocals expertly command the unsteady ship of the psyche.
“The so-called “angels” in our lives that might be an oppressive force, whether in an intentional way or not,” explains Panic Priest’s Jack Armondo (My Gold Mask). “It’s about taking back the time they can inadvertently steal and using it to realize one’s future.”
